Both publish AQA for A-level Business, and Maidstone Grammar also teaches AQA GCSE Business. AQA is changing its A-level: Year 13 students this year finish the current course (7132), while those who started Year 12 in September 2026 take the new one (7138).

Four themes
Oakwood Park describes its A-level through four themes, including marketing, finance, strategy and global business. That’s the way Pearson Edexcel’s A-level is organised, and Edexcel’s Paper 3 is based on an industry context released each November. A-level Business
Maidstone Grammar School for Girls describes three two-hour exams mixing multiple choice, short answers, essays, data response and case studies. The Valley Invicta sixth form uses real business situations throughout. Neither names its board on the pages we checked, so send it to us before the first lesson.
Level 3 Enterprise & Entrepreneurship
MidKent’s Foundation Diploma covers enterprise, marketing campaigns, personal and business finance and running a real enterprise, assessed through assignments, projects and exams. We teach the content and assessment criteria, and never write coursework. See our BTEC and vocational Business page.

Kent’s county town has a TV studio with a national track record, a town centre adapting to new shopping habits and a council that became a leisure landlord. Each one teaches a skill examiners reward.
The Maidstone Studios opened in 1982 and was bought by a local consortium in 2002 for £4.25 million. It has hosted shows from Deal or No Deal to Later… with Jools Holland and a 2023 Netflix film, and the University for the Creative Arts has taught TV production on site since 2010.

Maidstone’s Broadway Shopping Centre closed in 2022 after Lidl and Matalan left, and Wilko’s collapse left a large unit empty in The Mall until B&M took it on. Local councillors argue that retail now has to be mixed with leisure to bring people into town.

In 2019 Maidstone Borough Council bought a 105-year lease on Lockmeadow, home to an Odeon, bowling, a trampoline park and restaurants, for £19.1 million, partly with borrowing. Tenants were paying over £1.5 million a year in rent. By 2025 the council expected income to fall by £68,000, as empty units could only be re-let at lower rents.

A-level Business at Maidstone Grammar, Maidstone Grammar School for Girls, Oakwood Park, and the Invicta and Valley Park sixth form, plus A-level and vocational Business at MidKent College.
The University of Kent teaches business through Kent Business School, and Canterbury Christ Church University offers a BSc in Business Management with placement and foundation-year routes.
MidKent College runs a Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship, and Kent students can search apprenticeships alongside sixth-form courses on Kent Choices.

Students who started Year 12 before September 2026 are on the current AQA A-level (7132), with final exams in summer 2027. Yes. We support BTEC Level 2 and Level 3 Business students, helping them understand the grading criteria and prepare for externally assessed units. We guide the work but never write assignments for them.
Yes. Pearson releases a new Paper 3 context each November for the following summer, and we build lessons around it so students know that industry well before the exam. Our Edexcel A-level Business tutor page explains how each paper is marked.
No. Business Tutor is independent. We support students from any school or college, and our lessons are designed to complement what’s taught in class, not replace it.
No. We support GCSE, A-level and BTEC Business with AQA, Edexcel and OCR, but we don’t currently support IB Business Management.
Most students have one 60-minute lesson a week. Early in Year 12, once a fortnight can work; after February half-term in Year 13, two or three a week is common for the final push.
