Shareholder Approach
Shareholder Approach in a Nutshell The shareholder approach is a model of corporate governance where the primary purpose of a business is to maximise profit and returns for its shareholders. Decisions on…
How booking, paying, cancelling and learning with Business Tutor works, so there are no surprises for you or the student.
These terms apply whenever you book lessons, buy anything from, or use the services of Business Tutor Ltd (“Business Tutor”, “we”, “us”). We are a company registered in England and Wales (company number 14822407), and our address is 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom. You can contact us at hello@business-tutor.co.uk.
By booking, buying or using our services you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use them. “You” means the person who makes the booking or purchase, and “student” means the person being taught or using the service.
We provide:
We describe our services as accurately as we can, but the content, price and availability of anything we offer may change, and we update specifications and materials as exam boards update theirs.
A booking is made when we confirm it to you, usually by email. If the student is under 18, the contract is with their parent or guardian, who must be 18 or over, and who is responsible for paying and for making sure these terms are followed. Students aged 18 or over contract with us themselves.
The free 15-minute intro is a conversation about goals and how we can help. It carries no obligation on either side.
Lesson fees are the ones we quote when you book. We do not charge VAT. We will tell you the fee before you commit, and we will not change it for lessons already booked and paid for.
Payment is taken by card through Stripe before each lesson, either as individual lesson payments or in blocks of 5 or 10 lessons. If a payment fails we may pause lessons until it is resolved. We may change our fees for future bookings, and will normally give you 30 days’ notice of any change to a regular arrangement.
You can cancel or rearrange a lesson free of charge if you give us at least 24 hours’ notice by email or message. Lessons cancelled with less notice, or missed without notice, may be lost, because the tutor’s time has been reserved for you.
If we need to cancel or rearrange a lesson, for example because a tutor is ill, we will offer you another time or a refund for that lesson. Lessons run for the full 60 minutes from the agreed start time; if a student joins late, the lesson still ends at the scheduled time.
You can stop regular lessons at any time by telling us. Lessons already taught are charged, and we will refund any fees you have paid for lessons that have not yet taken place.
If you are buying as a consumer (not for a business), you have the right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 to cancel most orders within 14 days, without giving a reason. To cancel, email hello@business-tutor.co.uk with your name and what you ordered.
We will refund you within 14 days of agreeing that you can cancel, using the payment method you used to pay.
AI Business Tutor works on credits. New accounts start with 3 free credits, and you can buy more at the price shown when you buy. Marking a practice answer uses 1 credit, and every 5 chat messages with the guiding chatbot uses 1 credit. Credits expire 24 months after they are added to your account.
Credits are digital content. Used credits cannot be refunded. If you cancel within 14 days of buying credits and have not used any from that purchase, we will refund it in full.
The marking, feedback and chat replies are produced by AI, so they can contain mistakes. They are there to help students learn and practise, are not an official mark, and do not come from an examiner or the exam board. Please check anything important with your tutor or your teacher.
Please keep your account to yourself, do not share or resell credits, and do not try to copy, scrape or misuse the service. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms. Students under 13 should only use the service with a parent or guardian.
When you buy an online course, such as the Exam Technique Masterclass, we give you access to it for 12 months from the date of purchase. Access is for the student named on the order and for their personal study only. You must not share your login, copy the course, or pass it on.
We may update courses, for example when exam board specifications change, and we will keep the content accurate and fit for purpose. If a course is faulty or not as described, you have legal rights to a repair, a replacement or a refund, and we will put it right. Your right to cancel is explained in section 6.
Our printed textbooks and revision guides are made to order and sent by Royal Mail. The price you pay is shown when you order, and postage is charged on top of the book price. We will send your order within 1 to 3 days of receiving payment, and delivery times shown are estimates, not guarantees. Ownership passes to you on delivery, and the risk passes to you when it arrives.
If you are a consumer, you can return a book within 14 days of receiving it, for any reason. Email hello@business-tutor.co.uk first, and send the book back in a condition fit to resell. You pay the cost of returning it. We will refund you within 14 days of getting it back.
If a book arrives damaged, misprinted or not as described, tell us as soon as you can and we will replace it or refund you, including postage.
We teach to the highest standard and share the results our students have achieved, but we cannot guarantee any grade or outcome. Results depend on many things, including the student’s effort, attendance, starting point and the exam itself. The results and statistics on our website describe past students and do not promise what any future student will achieve.
Our tutors are experienced, qualified teachers, but our materials and advice are not a substitute for a student’s own school teaching, and exam boards may change their requirements.
We expect students to join lessons on time, ready to learn and to be respectful to their tutor. We may end a lesson, or stop tuition, if a student or parent behaves abusively or inappropriately.
For students under 18, we ask a parent or guardian to be reasonably available during lessons. Lessons are held on Google Meet, and tutors will not contact students outside agreed lesson arrangements. Students should not share personal contact details with a tutor other than those used for lessons.
We do not record lessons.
The text, lessons, books, videos, courses, notes, software and designs we produce belong to Business Tutor Ltd or our licensors, and are protected by copyright. You may use them for the student’s own study. You must not copy, share, resell, publish or upload them elsewhere without our written permission, and you must not use AI tools to copy or reproduce our materials at scale.
Past papers, mark schemes and other exam board materials belong to their owners, such as AQA, Pearson Edexcel and OCR. We link to or reference them for revision purposes, and they are not ours to license to you. Business Tutor is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any exam board.
If you send us work or content, you keep your rights in it, and you allow us to use it to teach and support you. We publish testimonials and results only with permission.
Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected.
Otherwise, if we break these terms or are negligent, we are responsible for losses that were a foreseeable result, up to the amount you paid us for the service concerned. We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, for lost profits or business losses, or for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as illness, internet or power failures, or problems with services like Google Meet.
If something has gone wrong, tell us at hello@business-tutor.co.uk and we will acknowledge your complaint within 5 working days, look into it properly and reply with an outcome. We would like the chance to put things right before you take it further.
Privacy. How we use personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
Changes. We may update these terms. The terms in force when you book or buy apply to that booking or purchase, and any change applies to later ones. We will tell you before a change affects a regular lesson arrangement.
Other points. These terms, together with what we confirm to you when you book or buy, are the whole agreement between us. If a part of them is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still do so later. No one other than you and us has a right to enforce these terms.
Governing law. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can hear any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
